First impressions: Quite good!
Uli Heller
I'm using Garmin, Komoot and bikerouter.de to plan my routes.
- Garmin: Sometimes gives very strangs routes and doesn't seem to "know" cycle tracks.
UI is quite clumsy, especially when trying to plan multi day trips
- Komoot: Initially, they promised to be a one-time-payment-shop. Now it is more
something like an abonnement (Komoot Premier). Even with premier, the routes
aren't satisfying. Lots of "cleanup" necessary if you want to ride on cycle tracks
- bikerouter.de: Currently my favorite. Trekkingbike + Stick to cycle routes gives me very
good routes. Unclear: Will the service survive? How will they make money?
- veloplanner: The routes look "similar but different" to bikerouter. It picks totally
different routes but it seems to route on cycle tracks. I'll give it a try for the upcoming
months
How do you plan to make money?
Best regards, Uli

Thanks for the feedback. Let me know how VeloPlanner works for you.
I'm planning to support it by ads + yearly subscription. I will try to keep ads to the minimum and yearly subscriptions will be competetive. There will be big discount for early adopters.
Unfortunatle, it's not feasable to offer one payment. Even without any new feature, I still have to cover server expenses which are required to process all the data.

Hey Kacper Golinski, thanks a lot for giving these insights. I'm looking forward to the progresses you'll make! Are you interested in feedback related to the functionality and/or ui etc? Best regards, Uli
What I do NOT need is a coupling between VeloPlanner <-> Garmin. I do NOT like this for Komoot. I'm quite happy with VeloPlanner -> GPX -> Garmin

Uli Heller Do you mean auto sync? Couple of users asked me for Garmin integration. I'm thinking about NOT making auto sync but there will be a button to just send what you need.

Hey Kacper Golinski, exactly. I do not like lots of routes/tours showing up in Garmin and vice versa. For example, there was a time when all my Komoot routes got synced to Garmin. Afterwards, I had to delete hundreds of routes in Garmin. One-by-one. Ugly. A sync button is
probably OK. Thx, Uli
